The authentic taste of the islands can now be enjoyed in Terminal A of Newark Airport by passengers and employees alike, thanks to Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, (GK) the nation’s largest Caribbean franchise chain.
The chain officially declared its Newark International Airport location open for business at a grand opening ceremony which took place recently. Scores of elected officials, airport employees, passengers and well-wishers gathered at the event to show support and appreciation for the new Golden Krust outlet. Karen Marley – daughter of reggae icon Bob Marley was also in attendance to promote “Marley Coffee” which is sold at the restaurant.
GK President Lowell Hawthorne, in his remarks stated that “the company is fulfilling its vision to ‘take the taste of the islands to the world’ with this strategic positioning in one of the country’s busiest airports. Now passengers from all over the world who utilize the Newark International Airport can enjoy the authentic flavors of the islands with varied menu offerings in a bright and inviting Caribbean atmosphere”, he said.
GK Franchisee Lorna Brissett-Romans and her husband Clemente who are the proud owners of this particular restaurant along with another on Lyon’s Ave in the city of Newark, were elated at the overwhelming support from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and Westfield Management Company and pledged to keep the Golden Krust brand flying high by offering superb island cuisine coupled with warm and friendly hospitality, just like one would experience it in the islands.
