Golden Krust Opens its 2nd Miami Location
It is no secret that South Florida has become home to thousands of Caribbean nationals. Last week, Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill (GK), the nation's largest Caribbean franchise chain opened yet another restaurant in Miami at the Colonial Plaza Shopping Center at 9534 SW 160th St. (Colonial Dr ) to keep pace with the huge demand for its authentic island cuisine.

Golden Krust opened its first store in Florida back in 1999 in Lauderhill and has been steadily growing over the years and now encompasses over 120 stores located in nine states. The company plans to establish another fifty (50) stores across the sunshine state over the next five (5) years. With the close proximity to the Caribbean and the second largest concentration of West Indians next to New York City, Florida is a natural fit for the successful proliferation of the chain. Customers have been clamoring for the chain to set up more stores in the state and the company is responding to the demand, said Lowell Hawthorne, GK's President & CEO.

Golden Krust - a New York based franchise chain established in 1989 now operates a total of fifteen stores and counting in Florida with eight of those locations residing in the South Florida region. As the home to the world's best tasting patties, Golden Krust customers can't get enough of the flaky golden crust patties with eight delicious fillings. The restaurant's exquisite menu caters to a variety of tastes and nutritional requirements. In addition to its baked products patties, breads and pastries - customers can choose from a full line of dishes including curried goat, escoveitched fish, the chain's signature jerk chicken and oxtail plus several vegetarian options. Golden Krust has a commitment to excellence that you can taste in every succulent bite. As one customer puts it for those longing for a taste of the islands Golden Krust offers the real thing.

As the nation's largest Caribbean franchise chain, Golden Krust has been aggressively developing the Florida market. It's brightly decorated yellow and red restaurants extend as far as Clermont, St. Petersburg, Port Charlotte, Orlando, Kissimmee, Tampa and in the south you will find Golden Krust stores located in Coral Springs, Sunrise, Lauderhill, North Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines.

Franchisees Bernadette & Keith Clayborne own four Golden Krust restaurants in South Florida and are the proud owners of the chains newest location in Miami. The Clayborne's did their homework prior to joining the GK family and realized that with the success of the brand up north in New York, there was no reason why they could not continue the trend in South Florida where so many West Indians reside. So far, the new store has been enjoying extraordinary success. In fact, the Clayborne's have their eyes set on opening another location in the very near future, but this time in the city of Miramar.

For prospective franchisees with a limited budget, Golden Krust has introduced a Kiosk/Express layout for locations between 250 - 499 square feet. The franchise fee for kiosks is $15,000 with an estimated initial investment ranging from $185,000 to $387,500. The Express concept is ideal for colleges, hospitals, airport terminals, or shopping malls.
